ENCRIPTED

Post by rosozinha »

Hi! Very green at this.

Can you create a DCP Encripted without a delivered key from a cinema, distributor, or other?
What I´m trying to find out is if there is any kind of encryption, like a pass, that you can create on your own, not for a particualr projector or cinema.
¿Such thing exists?

Apoligizes for my english and thank you all in advance.

If you are talking about the encryption as used on digital cinema, one needs to follow the established operation function.

If you want to deliver a package for only one person/cinema to be able to screen, you can send the files encrypted for them to decrypt on a personal computer, like you encrypt the contents of an archive (.zip, .rar, .7z) file. But, once decrypted, it stays that way. That's a one-time (per receiver) protection.

It doesn't make sense to send an encrypted DCP to a distributor and not send them a DKDM for their KDM issuing system, though.

To go back to the matter in hand, inside a cinema server, the only encryption scheme is the one that you will read about at the help page of DCP-o-matic. Anything else, is a question of encryption used between personal computers and before the DCP is ingested. For the later, you will get more help on specialized forums and sites.
